The Legend of Turkish cinema -- Mr. Erol Tas

Mr. Erol Tas was born in the city of Erzurum, which is located in eastern Turkey, on the date of February 28, 1928.  He is an actor that was much liked in Turkey, plus received many recognitions for his 'bad guy' roles.  He acted in over 200 movies, and most of his roles were from the years 1960 to 1975; the panicle years of Yesilcam Sinema (Turkish Cinema).

He was the 'go to' actor when a strong, ruthless, and mean character needed to be played against the protagonist.  The important truth that movie watching public witnessed was that, he always out-played and out-worked all others in the movie; this earned him great respect by everyone.

This movie was filmed in 1964 and won the Golden Bear award in the 14th Berlin International Film Festival.

Mr. Erol Tas died on November 8, 1998 in Istanbul, may he rest in peace.  At a later date, I will add further to this brief essay of his life.

One important date that struck me, while reading about him was that, his date of birth of February 28, coincides with my daughter of Gonul Ezo.  I'm happy to have learned this.

Zehra Abla sana biraz uzun olucak ama yaziyim dedim ve kotulemek istemiyorum kimseyi ama zoruma gidiyor.  Bendede hata vardir bu dogru ama karsindaki hepde hakli olamaz, ama bizim ailede malesef oyle.  

Isler nasil patlak verdi sana anlatayim.  Patlak vereli yillar once oldu, ama biraz daha oldu son zamanda.  

Halbuki, ben nefret ediyorum boyle konulara girmekten, ama anlatayim cunku ben simdi nasil bir kotu adamin anlatilirimdir, 'Namkor evlat namkor adam' derler.  

Bak simdi anlatayim, Pelin hanim Eylul'de Zonguldak'a gidiyor aramiyor, kocasindan ogreniyorum iki yada uc gun sonra.  Niye bana soylemedi soruyorum, cevap yok beyfemdiden. 

Ocak ayinda geri geliyor telefon ediyor, ben geldim diyor, hosgeldin Pelin hanim!  Dondugunde gidip goremedim haftada 50 saatten fazla calisiyorum, Fatma okula gidiyordu vede calisiyordu.  Cok mesguldum ve ayarlayamadim onu gormeye, vallahi de billahi de, kotu bir niyetim yoktu.  Yani gidemedim.  

Hemen Pelin hanim gelseydi.  Evde uc tane emekli insan var, yani calisan yok, zaman cok, hemen gel bana.  Baskalarina gitmesini bilir.   

Ama yok gelmezler, cunku bencillerya beni bekliyor.  Herneyse, isleri yok gelselerdi arasalardi, boyle oldu isler. 

Pelin Zonguldak'a Eylul'de gittikten sonra kocasina  aradim kac defa, beyefendi pek bana geri aramamiyordu ama gunahini almiyim o beni az arardi bende onu, o kadar. 

Pelin hanim ocak ayinda geldi dedim ya onceden, ve iki yada uc hafta oldu gitmedim hatirlarsin.  Sonra onu cay bahcesinde gordum ve gittim masasina 'nasilsin Pelin Ana?' sordum. Sormaz olaydim cunku agzima sicti.
