Slippery out there, be careful

Hope you are fine man, it is slippery out.  Be careful. 

Last October I was walking with my son Ahmet, I was holding his hand.  

I slipped and landed on the left side of my shoulder.  And all thru out the slipping and falling, I was trying not to land on my son.  Like my feet were in the air, and somehow, I turned myself in the air, to land on the opposite side, to my hand holding Ahmet.  

I landed on my left side and Ahmet landed on my chest.  

We were both fine that day.  

Next few hours, I could not turn my neck or my shoulder.  

In the morning, I could not get out of bed, it was that bad and my left side, shoulders area was bruised, the bruise looked very cool however, purplish.  😁

It hurt for almost one week.  

Be careful, that ground is very hard, when it is frozen.

Bombing of Syria

 

Here we go again, another USA administration bombing a country.  How many countries has the USA bombed in the past quarter century?  A dozen? 

 

I am saddened to see people in Syria suffer, however, bombing is not the answer, and we should know this by now.

 

The Obama administration rightly stayed out of Syria. 

 

The fighting in Syria has cost hundreds of thousands of lives and displaced millions in Syria since the beginning of the war, which I believe is at the sixth year mark.

 

The direct American involvement that began on April 7, 2017 with over 50 cruise missiles attacking has caused even further destruction in this country.  I believe this military action is a complete error by USA.  The USA constitution does not require that American forces fight in every war around the world; this one should have been sat out.  

 

The immense resources of the United States should be dedicated rather, to one single goal:

Reduce human suffering with humanitarian aid.

 

President Trump should immediately cease all direct attacks on the Syrian regime and instead help the people of this country.

Out of the way, Uruguay

Out of the way, Uruguay

I wanted to write about the South American country of Uruguay today. 

Does anyone know why it is called Uruguay? 

how the country declared independence from the European Powers? 

when was the independence?

and finally, what is the capital city?

Here are the answers to the above questions, however first, let me elaborate a bit.  

Uruguay has the neighbours of Brazil and Argentina; and is surrounded on two sides by river, and the third side by the Atlantic Ocean. 

The river of 'Río de la Plata', which is one of the widest rivers in the world is located on the north. 

The 'Río Uruguay' is on the west of the beautiful country. 

And finally, the Atlantic Ocean borders the country to the east. 

The main port and capital city is Montevideo; which was founded in 1726.

The name 'Uruguay' originates from the river mentioned above.  Its etymology derives from a 'Guaraní Indian' word meaning "the river of shellfish". 

Never been to Uruguay yet, but I will definitely make it out to this 'out of the way' country soon.
