Jasper Place Public Library

Jasper Place Public Library

I am an avid book reader, and I love to visit the Public Libraries.

On my way to an appointment today, I drove in front of the 'Jasper Place Public Library ', and decided to stop, and visit this library.

Most people will not know this, but this is a 'New' building that had a grand opening summer of 2013.  The old building was demolished, to make way for this spectacular building.

The following are the benefits, besides picking up wonderful books, magazines and reading the 'daily ' papers:

-- a refuelling station for electric vehicles,
-- bicycle storage and change room,
-- water-efficient landscaping, to capture rain water,
-- abundant natural light,
-- 75% of construction, from recycled material,
-- 10% of the building materials were manufactured regionally, and
-- low emitting materials, from paints, carpets, wood etc.

This building looks incredible, however more importantly is that, the building is very welcoming to 'future' and 'current' book lovers.

Check out the pictures, I have attached.

Please make time to visit this building, if you are in the Meadowlark neighbourhood of Edmonton.

Thank you for visiting.

Snow In Turk Telekom Stadium

Snow In Turk Telekom Stadium

If you are following this blog, I wrote about the stressful 6th, and last game of 'group B' of the Champions League; the title of the blog is simply 'Galatasaray vs Juventus in December 2013'.

The game was played on Tuesday, December 10, but only for 31 minutes.  Why? you ask, since a soccer/football game is played for a total of 90 minutes.

Due to snow, and hail falling onto the pitch, the game was 'called off' and after speculations of 'will the game be played' at all.  It was decided by the governing body of Europe, UEFA, that the game will be played the next day, for the remaining 59 minutes, that was today, December 11, 2013.

Here are a few pictures of the game, while/when it was being 'called off'.

Thank you.

Interest on Loan

Interest on Loan

Previously in this blog, I wrote about how money is created, the blog is titled 'Creation of Money', please look for it.  Today, I'd like to elaborate on this topic by writing about 'interest'.

Just a quick re-cap; in our current financial system, money is created by debt, by the banks.  The money which was created, did not exist before, every time the bank makes a loan, they create money.

These loans must be returned/repaid to the banks, plus, the interest.

The 'interest', which is charged at the creation of money, is a problem, since money is created from 'nothing', which would mean, more money will need to be earned by the borrower, to pay the interest.

But, a 'big' but here, mathematically it is impossible to pay the loan back, plus interest, as  there is not enough money to go around to pay the 'interest' on all the loans outstanding.

Can you see this?

Did I explain this concept properly?

Most borrowers, can manage to pay back their loans in total; which would be the loan amount, plus the interest.  However, not all borrowers will be able to pay off the loan and interest.

In order for most borrowers to be able to pay back the loans from the bank, some will eventually seek 'bankruptcy protection', since there is not enough money to pay for the 'interest'.

Once 'Bankruptcy' is in the picture, the banks will get back most of all of the assets of the borrowers.

This really is how money is created, it is loaned out to existence.

Thank you for returning back to this blog,

Ben

Aviator Vecihi Hurkus

Aviator Vecihi Hurkus

Today, I will write about Mr. ‘Vecihi Hurkus’,

Who? I can hear 'you' asking me.

Vecihi Hurkus, I say.

Let me begin.

This gentleman was born on January 6, 1895, in the city of Istanbul, Ottoman-Turkey.  He holds the title for building the very first plane in this country.

Mr. Hurkus, which translates to English, to mean 'Freebird', graduated from the Ottoman Empire’s prestigious ‘Tayyare Mektebi’ Aviation school.

He joined the 9’Th Combat Aircraft Platoon in 1918 and here; he managed to design a fighter airplane.

After World War I, and despite many many obstacles, he designed and built the first airplane.

He was the founder of ‘Hurkus Havayollari', which is translated to English to mean 'Freebird Airlines’ in the year 1954.

Amazing achievement for an individual, which I was ignorant of until reading a ‘enlightening’ article in a newspaper.

I thought to share.

Sincerely.
