Galloway vs Hitchens

Galloway vs Hitchens

If you have time, please watch the entire debate as it is incredible; between these highly educated and knowledable characters.

If you only have 30 minutes or so, start from the 15:00 minute mark.  This is when the honorable Mr George Galloway comes on; this man is the most outspoken Irishmen out there.

     The honourable Mr Galloway

If you like what you here, search him on Youtube, the man is absolutely wonderful.

I am a supporter of his views.

Here is the link of the debate, below, if the link is not working, please copy and waste it to the address bar.   Or email me and I can help you out.

The Moneylenders

The Moneylenders

I came by the below quote that made me reflect on the current times that we are in.  This quote was said by a President, more than 150 years ago, as he realized the importance of keeping a 'balance household budget'.  If we or our country does not properly handle the resources and keep spending in check, the Bankers will surely, come in, and seize everything we own.

Here is the quote.
"The Moneylenders preys upon the nation in times of peace and conspires against it in times of adversity.  It is more despotic than monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, more selfish than bureaucracy." --- USA President Mr Abraham Lincoln

          Mr President

Sincerely,

Ben

Intervention by Turkey

Intervention by Turkey
I have been following the 'guerrilla war' going on in Syria, and I am perplexed at some comments made by westerners from the comfort of their peaceful homes.
Tanks sitting on the Turkish side
Let us briefly look at the issue at hand.
But first, I will re-write the question, why are some screaming for meddling and interventions by Turkey?
The answer is that the Turkey does not want to get dragged into an in-ending & un-winnable guerrilla war.
I invite citizens of the world to read 'Art of War' by Mr Sun Tzu.
If USA politicians actually read the book, they, I mean the politicians would not be constantly getting involved in fiascos all the time, all around the world.
          Men watching the bombing
If IS (Islamic State) attacks Turkey, then the matter is different, as Turkey is justified to protect its borders and therefore retaliate.  What Turkey is doing is watching how the affair unfolds and using caution.  This 'caution' is something all countries should use, before bombing each other.
But, let's say something needs to be done right away, as in we need to go into Syria and 'bomb' IS or other parties.
I for one definitely agree that something should be done to save the people of the town of Kobani.
However, Turkey should not fight IS on its own.
What is required is a a 'joint force' of NATO countries going in to solve this dilemma.
Or how about the 'so called' world powers of USA, UK, Canada and France, putting their nose into this as well and going into Syria and bombing that country like Afghanistan or Irak or Vietnam was 'handled' previously.
But, let's not be sarcastic here.
If Turkey were part of a joint force it would make sense to complete a 'peaceful ground operation' but for a single country to invade another is illegal and absolutely foolish.
I hope our politicians have learned that 'war is not the answer to peace'.  I really hope that...
Sincerely,
Ben

Niyeti Guzel Olanin

Niyeti Guzel Olanin

'Niyeti guzel olanin, akibeti hayir olur' --- Atasozu (Anonim)

          Narrow roads of old Bodrum

I would like to explain what the above Quote means.  I will first write what it means in Turkish, as it does have a deep meaning.

Afterwards, I will translate it to English.

First of all, I need to explain what 'Atasozu' means.  The 'Atasozu' is used for 'sayings' 'quotes' 'proverbs' that have come from centuries past, and the author is an unknown person from society.

And now, the English translation.

Before beginning a task, event or duty, make sure to understand that, the event needs to be beneficial to ones self, family and neighbourhood.  Because, if beneficial to ones self, it will be a 'positive' outcome for everyone.  However, if we have 'evil' or 'bad' intend from the beginning, the results will be detrimental to everyone.

Basically, do the right thing from the beginning, and the result will be positive for everyone.

Kind of a 'dark' topic today, however thought to share.

Rabbena Atina Min Ledunke

Rabbena Atina Min Ledunke

I would like to explain what 'Rabbena Atina Min Ledunke' pray means.  First, I will write the Arabic version below, with Latin words.

(Arapca / Arabic)
'Rabbena atina min ledunke rahmeten ve heyyi lena min emrina raseda rabbis rahli sadri ve yessirli emir'.

Now, I will translate this Pray to Turkish, and afterwards to English.

(Bu Dua'nin turkce aciklamasi soyledir)
Ey Rabbimiz! Bize kendi katından bir rahmet ver.  Ve bu isimizde bize dogruluk ver bizim için muvaffakiyet hazırla.  Rabbim gonlumu ac ve isimi kolaylastır.

(English meaning now)
O God! Give us a favor to your elevated standard.  This favor should be righteous and good for me.  O God, help me open my heart and make my work easy.

Recite this pray / dua if you are starting a new task.  It will hopefully open your mind/heart to accept this task, and finally will help you to succeed.

Thank you for reading,

Ben

Beautiful Konyaalti Antalya

Beautiful Konyaalti Antalya

I took this picture June of 2011.

This is Konyaalti.

The 'town' is 20 kilometres west of Antalya.

Once here, you feel a sense of 'peace' and 'calm' in the air.

The warm Mediterranean Sea beckons a swim.

And the 'Beydaglari' Mountains wrap the town and they peak to the heavens quickly.

Makes for a beautiful picture.

Have you ever made it out to this far away place called Antalya?

Understand the Income Tax

Understand the Income Tax

"The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax"
This is a quote, believed to me from Albert Einstein, the 'Nobel' peace prize winner, and the intellectual genius.

I thought it was fitting to write this today, and bring attention to the 'tax system', since the system really is highly complex.

Also, in previous blogs, titled, 'Interest on Loan', 'Creation of Money', and 'Illegitimate and Absurd', I touched on our 'monetary system', please find these writings in this web-page and read them.

Therefore, the next step is to write a blog about our 'tax system'.

I am planning on writing a blog about how 'taxes' come into the picture, when money is created by the banks, and I will need to expand this topic and write about our 'tax system'.

It will be an interesting topic, and I would like to invite you back to this site.

For now, I will just state that:

Income taxes are used in almost all countries in the world today.  It was not like this about 100 years prior.  Tax burden now, falls on different groups within our society, based on the yearly 'income' of that 'person' 'partnership' and 'corporation'.

Let's just leave it at that for now, and I would like to invite you back for a more expanded write up on this topic.

To be continued.

Thank you for reading,

Ben

Remembering Kevin Carter

Remembering Kevin Carter

"I am depressed, without phone, money for rent, money for child support, money for debts,  money!  I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings and corpses and anger and pain, of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners.  I'm really, really sorry, The pain of life overrides the joy to the point that joy does not exist."

These were parts of the final written words of Kevin Carter.

On July 27, 1994 Kevin drove to the Braamfontein Spruit River, this was an area where he used to play as a child.  He committed suicide by taping one end of a garden hose to his pickup truck’s exhaust pipe and running the other end to the passenger side window.  He died of carbon monoxide poisoning.  He was only 33 years old.

"Who was Kevin?", you are asking me.
He was the photographer who took the above picture.  This month, marks the 20 year anniversarry of the month this disturbing photograph was taken.  The picture won him the 'Pulitzer Prize' for the best picture for that year.  Now that he had won this prestigeous award, he had to deal not only with the acclaim, but also with the critical focus that came with this fame.  Some poeple within his circle were whispering that he had somehow set up the scene.  Others such as St. Petersburg Times questioned his ethics and stated "The man adjusting his lens to take just the right frame of her suffering, might just as well be a predator, another vulture on the scene."  Did he help the child? was the first question that came to many peoples minds.

Briefly, this is how the photograph came to be:
In March 1993 Kevin went to Sudan for a business trip.  He travelled to the village of Ayod to witness the United Nations operation called "Lifeline".  This operation was to distribute food to the people of this country.  Just outside the village, He heard soft whimpering, he followed the sound and saw a Sudanese girl crawling to the food hand-out center.  The girl had stopped to rest, whereupon a vulture landed right behind her.  Kevin had stated that he waited for approximatelly 20 minutes because he was hoping that the vulture would spread its wings and in turn he would take the photograph, but the vulture did not do this.  Frustrated, Kevin took this haunting photograph and chased the vulture away.  However, he came under criticism for just photographing and not doing more for helping the Sudanese girl.

Kevin took his own life less then 4 months after photographing this scene.  How could someone who had moved so many people with his craft, end his life so soon after such an acheivement?

RIP - Kevin Carter

Earthquake in Turkey

Earthquake in Turkey

I am very sorry to see what has happened in Japan.   This terrible devastation in the eartern part of our Earth, reminded me of an earthquake I witnessed a few years past.

I will only write briefly about this incident, and sometime in the future, I will elaborate on this terrible experience:

The year was 1999.

(of August 19'th).

I went to Turkey for a one month vacation on August 1, 1999.  I was staying at my parents home in Istanbul.  They live on the 5'th floor (top floor) of an apartment complex.  We had company over that night, it was Saturday.  The people left and it was very late, like around 2:00 AM before we went to bed.  I was sleeping on the couch as there were no other beds - my papa and mama, brother Atilla and sister Gulsen all were in their own beds.

It was about 3:00 AM as I had just fallen asleep when I awoke, as I felt the couch starting to move, looked up and the chandelier was swaying back and forth.  I jumped out of the couch and just waited on my feet, I saw and felt the apartment (the entire apartment building) swaying back and forth and I thought it was going to collapse.  I remember being right beside the open window and was thinking should I jump on to the street while the apartment swayed downward.  Then, I heard this incredible sound like metals scrapping against each other (it was so loud) then the building started to shake instead of sway.  Then, I started hearing people all around the neighborhood screaming.

I reached for the light, the lights were out of order.  My parents got up and Atilla, and Gulsen started to run downstairs, to the street.  I was the last one behind them, when my mama said "I forgot the keys....someone grab them!" I remember taking a very deep breathe and going back up the stairs (tiptoeing back up the stairs) and looking for the keys for the apartment in the dark, while I heard screams coming from down below and all around me of our neighbourhood.  I grabbed the keys, shut the door, then ran downstairs to the street level.  What did I see? Hundreds and thousands of people, all just awoken, in they're pajamas, looking dazed and in absolute shock.

After the shaking stopped, it was so quiet, dark, only light was the stars illuminating brightly.  I have never experienced that degree of peacefulness, unpredictable'ness and terror (all at the same time) in that big of a crowd before or since.

Morning came and we were informed that (I cannot remember the exact level) but a 7.5 earthquake had occurred approximately 150 km's away in a small city called Kocaeli.  I believe the final death total was just under 20,000 people.

Incredible experience, I just thought to share.

Did you read my other blogs titled 'MLS' or 'Being a Muslim in Angola', yet?
